About the data

Sources

Every stocking record on this site comes from the state fish and wildlife agency that did the stocking. We collect each agency's published schedules and GIS records weekly, keep the raw payloads for provenance, and link the agency source on every page. We add nothing to the records themselves; coordinates and stream-section geometry come from the agencies and the US Census Bureau (county boundaries).

Freshness

The site rebuilds from agency data every Friday during stocking season. Schedules change — agencies move dates for weather and water conditions — so always confirm with the agency before you travel.

The underlying records are public government data. Our compiled and cleaned dataset — the normalized records, identifiers and geometry as presented here — is licensed underCC BY 4.0: use it freely, including commercially, with attribution toStockedTrout.com. If you republish agency records, please also credit the agency.
